Molecular Connections recently partnered with research based major pharmaceutical company to improve content management and discovery within the client site. The partnership resulted in the development of a semantic platform with embedded biomedical knowledge graphs and linked data technology to improve knowledge discovery at various research and development departments within the client’s organization.
“One of the major challenges faced by the client was to provide content which is comprehensive, current, accurate and relevant to the researchers, so that they can stay informed about competitor activity and be ahead of the competition. The challenge was further compounded by factors such as, relevant information being available across various biomedical data sources which made aggregation of information difficult. Molecular Connections formulated a comprehensive solution to enhance the knowledge discovery process making use of our linked data store (available through MCLEXiCONTM), to integrate more than 30 data sources (legacy, as well as external data sources), including patents, clinical trials, scientific publication”.
The MC Linked data store contains approximately 3.8 million biomedical entities with cross references to external identifiers and links to other openly available data sets including thesauri and ontologies. The Standard data store is being used by the client to align biomedical entities such as accessed through a custom API, for extraction, enrichment and maintenance of the meta-data associated with the biomedical entities and Molecular Connections updates the data store & maintains it almost real-time.
